Mearcstapa (2024)

Directed and written by Michael Kearney

Story: Moving back home with his parents after a major upset in his life, trapped within the contentedness of suburbia, Sean is haunted by visions from his past and finds himself slowly becoming 'Mearcstapan'.

Behind the score: The main sound theme was ‘voice’ to represent the presence of ‘Mearcstapan’. The melody of the ending score being the most musical form of the voice and the distorted version of the melody appears from the beginning of the film to create monster-like sound. The film score combined notational and sound design elements to deliver the agony of the main character.\

Ending score’s choral part performed by the University of Glasgow Chapel Choir

Nominated BAFTA qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival 2025 for best ‘No-Budget Short’.

A Tree of Moulded Voices (2024)

Dance Film

‘A Tree of Moulded Voices’ is an interdisciplinary project between music, dance and film.

The piece creates a dystopian sound world at start which then takes the audience to the bottom of the seabed where ancient lives start to move about and breathe. We intended to create a dance film that can demonstrate how three mediums create a synergy as a whole.
